Green infrastructure in Buckinghamshire

Buckinghamshire Green Infrastructure Consortium

The county of Buckinghamshire faces a period of growth and opportunity over the next 20 years.  Housing growth will need to be accompanied by green growth. Existing spaces will need to be protected and enhanced and new spaces created to ensure that all residents and visitors have access to high quality Green Infrastructure.

What is green infrastructure?

It is a planned network of multi-functional and inter-connecting links of green space that will contribute to the high quality natural and built environment for both current and future residents, as well as visitors to Buckinghamshire.

Working in partnership

In order to improve and provide better green infrastructure opportunities for people and wildlife we are working with partners to strategically plan for Buckinghamshire's green infrastructure by providing environmental, social and economic benefits for local communities.

The Buckinghamshire Green Infrastructure Consortium (GIC) was established in 2007, providing the county with a lead body for strategic green infrastructure planning and delivery.  The GIC is a multi-agency forum comprised of local authorities, non government agencies and countryside and community related organisations. See download file for a list of members, their aims and objectives.
