Activities

Activities can be selected to provide the focus for a day visit or contribute to a residential programme of education. Residential visits are from 3 to 5 days in duration. Not all activities can be offered during the limited time frame of a day visit.

A wide variety of teaching and learning styles are included in menu of options which vary the emphasis of the 3 styles of learning: visual, verbal and kinaesthetic. One of the strengths of many of the activities is their cross-curricular nature and content. However, they have been categorised into the following pages (see links on the left) for ease of access.

These are all well-resourced options but it does not preclude the addressing of particular needs by developing something different, nor the provision of opportunities for school staff to undertake their own.

All our activities are supported by 'Learning Objectives' and backed up with suggestions for written accounts so each learner can return with a personal record of their time at Shortenills.
