The Schools Library Service offers a comprehensive resource and advisory service to all phases of education……. from pre-school to post-16.

Our staff have many years experience of working with schools and can offer professional, friendly advice and practical support on all aspects of library resource and provision. This can be either through school visits or by attending one of a number of training courses we run every year.

Our aim is to provide services that you value whilst saving you time and money.

We offer the following services either as part of an annual subscription or on a pay as used basis.

Artefacts collections

Bring learning to life with our ever growing range of artefacts collections. These will help support the teaching of history, geography and religious studies within the classroom.

Advisory service

We can offer both practical and advisory support on all library related matters including:

Self-evaluation and Ofsted inspections.
Stock maintenance weeding.
Library policy and development.
Information skills.

Project collections

Boxes of 20 books/resources specially selected to meet your requirements - you specify the topic(s), age group and ability, and our experienced staff will select your resources for you.

Book hire

The long-term hire of fiction and non-fiction titles to meet schools' changing and specialist needs.

Multiple copies collections

An extensive collection of multiple copies, ranging from picture books to young adult titles.
6 copies of 5 titles loaned for 6 weeks.
Introductory book talks available. Delivered on your premises, the books are introduced to a class or small group and we return after 6 weeks for a follow up visit to discuss the books with the pupils.
