Project collections

Project collections can be requested on specific topics and hired for a term. They will be made up of a selection of materials that are tailor made to the needs of the teachers and the age-range and ability level of pupils. Each project will contain on average 20 books and poster packs where appropriate. Books can be non-fiction, fiction or an amalgamation of the two.

Book hire

We offer the long-term hire of fiction and non-fiction titles to enable your school to meet the needs of all ages and abilities.

Our books have been specially selected by library staff who are aware of schools’ changing and specialist needs, familiar with both the publishing market and the national curriculum and trained and experienced in the selection of material to give the best value for money.

We are happy to discuss the advantages of hiring stock compared to buying it.

Requests

Individual title or subject requests are available to secondary schools in batches of 25, 50 or 100. These are useful for pupils pursuing individual studies, teaching staff requiring some background resources or a pupil wanting to access the latest bestseller. If we don't have what you need we will try to source it outside the county or from the British Library.

Book talks

These are suitable for all ages and tailored to the pupils’ ability level. There are 2 options available.

1 Exploring books

In a two-stage visit programme delivered at your school, a selection of 5-6 titles are introduced to a class to try and encourage pupils to develop a love of reading for pleasure.

Multiple copies of the books are loaned to you for 6 weeks after which we return for a follow up visit to discuss the thoughts of the class on the books and take part in activities.

2 Introducing books

This is a single visit to your school to introduce a selection of 5 – 6 titles. Multiple copies of these titles are then loaned to the school for 6 weeks enabling the teacher to use them and develop activities around them to enhance the school’s literacy strategy.

Multiple copies collections

Ideal for reading groups, collections of multiple copies can be hired for a period of 6 weeks. They can be either recommended by ourselves, or selected from available titles, and each collection will contain 5 copies of 6 titles.
