Recommended reading

These lists are reviewed and up-dated regularly and contain classics and new titles. Where possible there is a direct link to the review on Book Selector, the children's fiction review database.

  • Key Stage 1 - books to appeal to young readers, age 5 - 7 years.
  • Key Stage 2 - a list for 7 to 8 year olds, these books should appeal to children from year 3 to year 6.
  • Key Stage 3 - a wide-ranging list that may appeal to upper primary school pupils, as well as secondary school students.
  • Key Stage 4 - books for older teenagers that may also appeal to sixth form students.

Special collection

We also have a comprehensive list of books that deal with different issues such as bereavement, family issues and teenage problems like self-harm. Project collections can be made up to meet individual school requirement, as part of a school package or on a pay as used basis. Please contact us for further details.
