Why Music Education?
Music tuition has a significant impact on children, it improves:
- Cognitive skills
- Co-ordination skills
- Team-working skills
- Social skills
As well as instrument, tuition we offer courses in music theory, advanced aural-training, master classes and workshops and hold over 50 concerts per year. We also offer County Music Scholarships, for particularly able pupils, which include instrumental tuition, theory, general musicianship, aural training and ensemble experience.
Our national reputation for excellence gives many of our students the chance to perform at prestigious venues e.g. The Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace and the London Palladium. Two of our ensembles have played for the Prime Minister at Chequers. Each year one or more of our ensembles reaches the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
There are also opportunities to join a summer concert tour abroad. Countries visited include Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland and Sweden. The tours often include a performance at a major music festival e.g. the Edinburgh Festival.
