VAT Free Purchase Scheme

Buckinghamshire Music Service offiers a scheme whereby parents can purchase musical instruments for their school age children without having to paying VAT on the transaction. 

To conform to HMRC regulations the following conditions have to be met::

1. The instrument must be ordered through Amersham Music Centre, and not individual teachers or suppliers.
2. Transactions must take place on Buckinghamshire County Council premises.
3. Amersham Music Centre must receive the whole of the purchase price plus an £10 administration charge, in advance of the instrument being ordered by the AMC office.
4. The instrument can only be ordered from the supplier by Amersham Music Centre.
5. The instrument must be for use in lessons provided by County Music Service staff in schools, and the pupil for whom it is bought must be a full time student.
6. The instrument must be appropriate to the student's needs and ability.
7. There is no facility within the scheme for credit terms to be arranged.
8. Any problems with the instrument covered under the manufacturer's warranty will be dealt with by the supplier, not by the Music Centre.

If the instrument is ordered or collected by yourself without the above conditions being adhered to, you will not be eligible to take part in this scheme.

Teachers will be happy to advise on the suitability of instruments for pupils.

Due to the fact that stringed instruments are set up in many different ways and teachers have different requirements and preferences, we are not able to deal with one retailer. Please seek advice from your child's teacher for their preferred retailer.

If you wish to take advantage of this scheme:

Decide in conjunction with your child's instrumental teacher which instrument would be most suitable.

Forward the application form, together with your remittance in full to:

You will be notified when the instrument has arrived in order that we can arrange a mutually convenient time for collection.  It must change hands at the Amersham Music Centre office or at Music Centre at The Amersham School on Saturday mornings.
