Buckinghamshire Rural Affairs Group (BRAG)

The independent voice for rural affairs

Buckinghamshire Rural Affairs Group (BRAG), in partnership with Milton Keynes, is committed to ensure the sustainability and vitality of our rural communities.

We raise the profile of rural issues and work to influence policy, key decision-makers and local government.  We're committed to delivering the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Rural Strategy 2008-12.

We have a wide membership and a Steering Group that discusses issues and monitors work.  The Steering Group works with Issue Groups who look at the biggest issues affecting our rural areas.

Aims

  • To act as the key driver to deliver the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Rural Strategy 2008-2012
  • To be the strategic focus for rural affairs in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, linking to local, regional, and central government
  • To lobby and report on rural issues, concerns and opportunities in the county
  • To be fully integrated into local governance frameworks and policy, ensuring all elements of the decision-making process are ‘rural proofed’
  • To be an ‘action-orientated’ group, advocating, assisting, monitoring and adding value to developing or existing rural initiatives, projects and activities
  • To be the focus for the dissemination of information and knowledge on rural affairs within Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, and also regionally and nationally, where appropriate
  • To act as a coordinating body with the aim of influencing rural activity and linking key delivery organisations and individuals together
  • To act as the truly independent voice for rural affairs in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes
