Buckinghamshire Rights of Way Improvement plan was published in March 2008 and outlines how we intend to manage and improve the Public Rights of Way network over the next 10 years.
The plan was shaped by input from many people during the consultation process. These included the public, user groups; Parish, Town and District Councils; elected Members and the Buckinghamshire Local Access Forum.
The plan sets out an eight-themed approach to improving access and seeks to deliver the wider aims of the Council's Corporate Plan, Local Transport Plan & Community Strategy.
Our aims in brief:
- Deliver an accurate and fully up to date Definitive Map and statement
- Provide and protect a well maintained Rights of Way network
- Publicise Public Rights of Way and Access information and Definitive Map and statement
- Deliver a better integrated and more accessible Rights of Way network
- Improve the use and enjoyment of the Rights of Way network
- Improve asset management of the Rights of Way network
- Provide an efficient, value for money service supported by high customer satisfaction
- Support safe, strong and cohesive communities
- Protect and assert the County’s National Trials and Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
- Improve access to ‘Open Access’ sites
- Deliver economic benefits to local communities and businesses
- Generate positive historical, environmental and biodiversity benefits
- Deliver health benefits for users and residents
