Exploring the Countryside

Bridge

Buckinghamshire offers a high level of access opportunities. In addition to the countryside network of rights of way, extending to 2073 miles, Buckinghamshire has 106 acres of Open Access Land and 2903 acres of Common Land. Many of our promoted routes are set in historic landscapes such as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Bernwood Ancient Hunting Forest. The local landscape has much to offer the tourist and local resident alike.

The network offers opportunities for walking, cycling, horse riding, carriage driving and off-roading to every community in Buckinghamshire.

You can directly access information about the network via;

  • Ordnance Survey Maps including the Explorer Series (1:25,000 scale) and Landranger Series (1:50,000 scale).
  • Leaflets to guide you to some of the best routes, whether you are looking for a short stroll or a lengthy hike. See related pages for more information.
  • Walking for health, visit the Simply Walk page or call 01494 475367 for more information.
  • We also have a number of country parks and picnic sites, many with convenient car parks and links to public transport.
