Swan Awards
The Swan Awards scheme has run annually since 2003. The Overview and Scrutiny Committee recommendations, supported by the Cabinet, are that the Swan Awards:
- provide a forum for schools to share good practice and network, and
- provide a platform for County-wide celebrations of student achievements and exhibitions of good work.
The scheme recognises the efforts made by schools to support and nurture the talents of every child.
Each year a different focus is chosen, with, more recently, elements of the Every Child Matters agenda being at the heart. The scheme is jointly run by members of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee for Children’s Services and officers from the School Improvement Service.
All Local Authority primary, secondary and special schools and Pupil Referral Units in Buckinghamshire are eligible for these awards.
