  • The building was originally an old coach house, and Matilda's Library was the coachman's living room.
  • The idea for the gallery came about after a gift from Roald Dahl's wife, Felicity.
  • It has appeared on all major British TV channels.
  • It uses Roald Dahl's stories to introduce visitors to museum objects.
  • It attracts visitors from all over the country, and from around the world.
  • Quentin Blake drew the characters especially for the Gallery logo.
  • It has won two major awards for education, and is fully used by schools during term time.
  • Half of the £600,000 it cost to create the Gallery came from the National Lottery.
  • It is the only one of its kind in the world!
