Ten amazing facts about the Gallery

It was opened on the 23 November 1996 by Terence Hardiman, the Demon Headmaster.
The building was originally an old coach house, and Matilda's Library was the coachman's living room.
The idea for the gallery came about after a gift from Roald Dahl's wife, Felicity.
It has appeared on all major British TV channels.
It uses Roald Dahl's stories to introduce visitors to museum objects.
It attracts visitors from all over the country, and from around the world.
Quentin Blake drew the characters especially for the Gallery logo.
It has won two major awards for education, and is fully used by schools during term time.
Half of the £600,000 it cost to create the Gallery came from the National Lottery.
It is the only one of its kind in the world!
