Home Library Service

• Do you find it difficult to visit a library, possibly because of mobility problems or poor health?
• Are you yourself a full-time, unpaid carer?
• Have you no-one to visit the library for you?
• Then perhaps we can help.  One of our Library Visitors could deliver the service to you!

What is the service?

A free monthly service delivered, to your home at times suitable for you, by WRVS volunteers called Library Visitors. They will wear identification badges and provide a helpful and courteous service.  You will be given a card with the name of your regular Library Visitor and the name and telephone number of your Home Library Service Coordinator.

Who is entitled to the service?

Buckinghamshire residents, who are housebound due to age, illness or disability. Carers who are unpaid are also eligible.

What can I borrow?

Books, DVDs, music CDs and audio books will be loaned and delivered free of charge.

Can I request items?

Requests for books and other items are free.

How soon will the service begin?

We will respond to your request for the service within 10 working days.  You will be visited at home by a member of the Home Library Service team who will assess your eligibility and find out your needs and interests.  The service will start when we get a suitable volunteer for you.

Volunteers

If you are interested in helping, we are always looking for volunteers who are willing to give a couple of hours each month, to brighten up a housebound person's life and be part of a very worthwhile service.  If this appeals to you, please ring or email us.
