Secondary schools

As a secondary school teacher you would be part of a team taking secondary education beyond the National Curriculum and into the realms of providing your students with the values, attitudes and skills that will equip them not just for work but also for life.

We have a selective system of secondary schooling, comprising 13 grammar schools and 21 upper schools. Together with our special schools they provide high quality education for our 11 to 19 year olds.

Our secondary schools offer you a range of opportunities with a combination of community, controlled, aided, foundation, mixed and single-sex schools, each with its own style and ethos. All schools offer the possibility of sixth form teaching.

You will join a team of dedicated, hard working colleagues able to help and support you with their wealth of experience and knowledge. All our secondary schools have good specialist teaching facilities backed by excellent school-based support, and professional guidance and advice from the LEA.

As well as the formal curriculum, each school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

We believe secondary education should be as broad as possible. Our schools offer not only a wide range of academic subjects but also vocational courses, personal and social education, economic and environmental awareness, equal opportunities, careers guidance and work experience.
