The Graduate Teacher Programme is an employment-based route into teaching, which leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The Oxon-Bucks Partnership (Employment Based Teacher Training) is a partnership of Oxfordshire County Council, Buckinghamshire County Council and Oxford Brookes University.
For general information, advice and to register your interest for entry in September 2012 please go to the partnership website or call the enquiry line on 01865 797399.
To be eligible you need:
- A degree or equivalent qualification
- Maths and English GCSE to C grade or better or equivalence
- A Science C grade or above for primary phase
- To find a school which is willing to employ you for a year while you train with them
- To spend at least 5 days minimum experience in a school prior to you interview
Entry into the teaching profession through the Graduate Teacher Programme is very competitive. We tend to recruit those with considerable experience (either working in education or in a related field), who demonstrate a sound understanding of how children learn and how to move that learning forward.
To gain QTS you need to train across at least two key stages and spend some time in a second school. We ask that you spend 6 weeks in a minor school placement. This should be set up by your major training school.
