Our performance
At the County Council, we monitor and manage our performance to make sure we are in track with delivering our services. We do this by measuring against a set of national and local indicators. Each quarter we report how we are doing against these indicators to the Council's Cabinet and we will publish our progress each June in our Annual Report.
Price Waterhouse Coopers compares the results of the national indicators of all County Councils and its latest analysis puts Buckinghamshire among the top performing, second only to Leicestershire County Council.
In addition, all that we do is closely monitored by the Audit Commission, an independent public body which is responsible for ensuring that public money is spent economically, efficiently and effectively. The Audit Commission has until recently reported this in the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA).
Buckinghamshire County Council CPA is:

The Audit Commission has now changed the way it assesses public services across the country. From 2009, all public service providers in Buckinghamshire, including the District Councils, Health, Police and Fire & Rescue authorities and the County Council, will be judged together on how well we are improving services for local people. The first Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) will be reported in November 2009.
We are committed, with our partner organisations across Buckinghamshire, to working together to deliver a number of improvements. The measures and targets for these are included in Buckinghamshire’s Local Area Agreement (LAA). For brevity, this Implementation Plan only includes those Local Area Agreement indicators for which we have a lead responsibility.
The indicators that appear in the tables throughout the rest of this document are a selection of national (NI) and local (LI) indicators, and indicators that have been taken from our Local Area Agreement and our Children and Young People’s Plan. These indicators have been chosen for their relevance to Buckinghamshire. Where it has been possible, 2008-09 results have been included to give some context.
