If a partner, ex-partner or a family member is abusing you; you can get free and confidential help from a number of local organisations.
If you need support or you are working with people who are affected by domestic abuse, help is at hand.
Domestic abuse covers a range of situations including:
- Physical, sexual or psychological abuse eg slapping, pushing, kicking, punching, stabbing, rape, verbal abuse and humiliation.
- Financial or emotional deprivation eg withholding money, not allowing friends to visit or restricting of phone calls.
- The use or threat of using legal sanctions against a partner e.g. threats about the custody of the children, threats of deportation.
- Denial of rights eg denial of medical care, physical freedom.
If you are suffering any of these, get help and advice to live without violence. You will be taken seriously and not judged because of your circumstances.
