- Motivating young people
- Keeping up-to-date with the education developments

Students
Research shows that students respond positively to people from the business world sharing their experiences. We promote a wide range of activities and initiatives to help students find out more about working life. They include work experience placements and one day workshops where students work in teams to develop new products or services.
The activities and initiatives:
- Provide a practical understanding of the world of work
- Develop confidence
- Improve interpersonal and team working skills
- Greatly enhance academic learning
- Relate learning to employment
- Help students to understand the qualities and skills employers require
- Help students to make informed career and employment choices
- Provide evidence for the students progress file
Work-related learning is a statutory part of the Key Stage 4 curriculum. It uses the context of work to develop knowledge, skills and understanding. There are nine strands of work related learning:
- Recognise, develop and apply skills for enterprise and employability
- Using work experience to extend understanding of work
- Learn how businesses operate roles, rights and responsibilities
- Develop awareness of local and national employment opportunities
- Relating their own abilities to career intentions and make informed choices
- Undertake tasks set in work contexts
- Learn from contact with employers from different sectors
- Experience of working practices and environments
- Engage with ideas, challenges and applications from the business world
Teachers
We offer work placements for teachers. These placements give teachers the chance to spend time in a company or organisation relevant to their teaching subject:
- Update knowledge
- Collect case study material
- Update experience in their particular field
- Prepare for a project
