Tree Warden Scheme
.jpg)
This is a national scheme which helps people play an role in conserving and enhancing local trees and woods.
The scheme provides:
• a proven method of working with the community
• a cost effective way of consulting the community about trees
• a volunteer force who can become the eyes, ears and hands for trees
• the ability to empower the community to manage their environment
• a method of establishing links with parish councils and other groups
We work in partnership with the Tree Council to help deliver this service. The Tree Council helps to fund the scheme and provides a County Tree Warden Coordinator to support the local Tree Warden network.
What is a Tree warden?
They are volunteers, appointed by Parish Councils or other community organisations, who gather information about local trees, get involved in local tree matters, enhance and monitor parish trees and encourage local practical projects that support local trees and woods.
To be a Tree Warden you don't need to be an expert, just enthusiastic:
- want to improve their local area
- help others appreciate trees
- raise awareness about tree care
- research, observe, record, survey
- work with groups of all ages
- work on local practical projects
- receive training and share skills
