HIV/AIDS
We are committed to helping people living with HIV/AIDS to live as independently as possible. We want to enhance lives by providing useful resources and information, to combat exclusion and to promote positive and healthy lifestyles. We also work with health, social care providers, voluntary organisations and other business professionals.
A community care assessment will identify your needs and help us work with you to plan your care. We offer specialist liaison with services that are specifically for members of black and ethnic groups, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender communities and referrals to specialist agencies who support people who use drugs.
You can contact the HIV social worker directly or ask someone else to do this for you. Depending on your financial situation, there may be a charge for some services.
Sexual Health Line - 0800 567 123 also offers advice in some other languages on request.
African AIDS Helpline - 0800 0967500
HIV Steering Group
The group was set up to raise awareness and provide accurate information and effectively enhance the lives of those who are HIV positive. Members of the group include council staff, specialist nurses and local voluntary organisations.
