Breaks in service
We will give you a refund if the break of all your services received is seven days or more. The exception to this is Respite Breaks which will be credited for any length of stay.
- Breaks start from the first day of missed service
- Breaks end the day before you next receive service
Service users will not be charged the actual cost of their care that providers charge to the Council, but will instead be charged a notional cost. The notional cost is based on the average cost of call care providers within Buckinghamshire, with a 15-20% reduction to take into account bank holidays and the odd occasion when the service user does not require the service or times when the carer stays for less time than usual.
Examples
- Going into hospital - If you are in hospital for seven days or more you will get a refund. If you are in hospital for less than seven days you won't.
- Going on holiday - If you are away for seven days or more you will get a refund. If you are away for less than seven days you won't.
- Going into residential care for a short period - You will be refunded all the charges for the care you usually have at home. You will be charged separately for this residential care.
- If your carer does not stay for the full time - If this happens occasionally we will not make a refund. If this happens regularly please tell your care manager.
- If the carer does not visit at all at the time arranged - If this happens occasionally we will not make a refund.
If you qualify for a break in servicer please contact your Care Manager. If you do not have an allocated Care Manager please ask for our Central Access Team on 0845 3708090.
