Because Every Adult Matters

because Every Adult Matters

Some time in your life you, or someone you know, may need services from social care.

Our vision 'because Every Adult Matters' (bEAM) strengthens and supports our services ensuring that those in need of advice and social care are able to access high quality information and services.

Every adult matters to us because:

  • it reflects our commitment to our most vulnerable adults
  • every adult is a potential future user of our services
  • every adult will know or be related to someone who uses our services
  • every adult has the potential to support their community through volunteering
  • every adult can shape how we support local communities through consultation and involvement

Our aim is that you are as healthy as you can be and have the same life chances as other adults. That you are living a fulfilled life and can participate as an equal member of your community. That you have more control over your own life and are able to make informed choices.

What we have done so far:

  • Increased the range of housing and support for people in their own homes
  • Increased people's choice and control over their own lives through schemes such as Direct Payments
  • Enhanced our services to enable our vulnerable adults to maintain their independence, such as In-Touch and Telecare
  • Provided support for carers - we are now supporting nearly 6,000 carers in Buckinghamshire
  • Help more people to feel socially included by supporting people back to work and helping disabled people access local activities
  • Improved services to black and ethnic minority communities through support groups and projects
  • Have strengthened our approach to safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse
  • Aided voluntary/community sector development

What we are working on:

  • Holding social care surgeries in local venues giving people in more rural areas a chance to talk directly to us about their needs
  • Providing opportunities for you to help us in future planning through consultation and involvement
  • Providing you with assistance to choose your own care giving advice on the choices available and helping to guide you through the process with the option for Direct Payments and Individualised Budgets
