Bucks Strategic Partnership and the Local Area Agreement

The Bucks Strategic Partnership (BSP) is the over-arching partnership for the area.  It brings public, private and voluntary sector organisations together to cooperate in improving life in the county.  It links to, and complements, the work of the four district level Local Strategic Partnerships.

The long term priorities for Buckinghamshire are set out in the family of Sustainable Community Strategies 2009-2026.  Some of these priorities are delivered in the short term through the Buckinghamshire Local Area Agreement 2008-2011 which the BSP leads on. The Local Area Agreement contains a series of targets, agreed with government, which will be delivered through the collaborative actions of partner organisations.

The voluntary sector is acknowledged to play a vital role and we are keen to encourage greater engagement from local organisations in the BSP sub groups, each of which looks at a more specific area of delivery (for example the Children and Young People’s Trust, the Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership).

Participation and Partnership Programme (3Ps)

The Voluntary and Community Sector has a key role to play in the Local Area Agreement and the county and district local strategic partnerships.  To enable this to happen effectively, Community Impact Bucks is managing a programme called the 'Participation and Partnership Programme (3Ps)'.  The Programme aims to create a stronger voice for VCS organisations by influencing decision-makers and holding forums where organisations can exchange ideas and work more closely together.

ChangeUp

This is a central government initiative focussed on improving the support available to VCS organisations.

The Bucks ChangeUp Consortium is made up of representatives of VCS infrastructure organisations operating in Buckinghamshire, officers from the county and district councils and some frontline VCS groups.  It is responsible for delivering the Bucks Infrastructure Development Plan (IDP) to improve the provision of infrastructure services to the sector.

The IDP is available from the Resources area of the Voluntary Impact Bucks website.

If you would like to find out more about ChangeUp please contact Diane Rutter, ChangeUp co-ordinator, on 0845 3890389.
