Volunteer Workout

Provides opportunities for local businesses, charities and individuals to work together to improve the lives of people in Buckinghamshire.

If you are a non-profit organization in need of help, such as ground maintenance/garden projects, painting or decorating, web design, marketing or finance - Volunteer Workout can assist.

We work alongside the volunteer centres to support non profit organisations by matching them appropriately to companies. On our web site you will find case studies of how companies have helped organisations, and the latest opportunities including events, workshops and toolkits.

What should I do next? – find out more from Volunteer Workout

We have an Employer Supported Volunteering Policy and work closely with Volunteer Workout, who sources suitable projects for our employees to volunteer on. This is an important element of fulfilling our corporate and social responsibility.

Interim expert volunteers

This is an exciting new initiative which aims to recruit senior executives, managers and high-calibre professionals who are currently out of work into an Interim Expert Volunteers Panel.

Members of this panel will use their experience, knowledge, skills and expertise in short-term targeted ‘Assignments’ that will support voluntary and community organisations, while helping panel members to enhance their profile and CV and to identify alternative routes to employment.

The interim assignments will bring much needed strategic and professional skills to voluntary and community organisations across the county, at a time when many are looking at ways to ‘raise their game’ because of downturn challenges.

Induction into the panel will be covered in a short series of Executive Forums delivered in partnership with Bucks Economic and Learning Partnership (BELP) and Aylesbury College, and run at a number of venues across the county.

The Interim Expert Volunteers initiative is funded by Bucks Strategic Partnership and is a Community Impact Bucks project. For further information about joining the panel or to find out more about offering an assignment, please contact Community Impact Bucks on 0845 3890389 or email communityimpactbucks@googlemail.com

Reactivate Bucks

Buckinghamshire is an active and sporting county; levels of participation are above the national average with over half of the population taking part in sport and many more interested and involved as spectators, volunteers and coaches. But we are not active enough - with only 22% of adults participating regularly in sport and active recreation. We have set challenging local targets to use the inspiration of the London 2012 Games to create a lasting legacy of increased levels of participation in our communities.

There is an enormous amount of sport available including school sport, a vibrant voluntary sector network, modern private sector provision, professional clubs and local and national sports centres. But people still cite a lack of provision or opportunities as a reason for not being more active.

BucksSport believe there is a sport or activity out there for everyone, but recognise that awareness of these opportunities is often low. They are not always effectively promoted or targeted, sometimes are not welcoming to newcomers, and as a result often do not provide high quality experiences to ensure continued participation.

Reactivate Bucks! aims to:

  • Increase the awareness of existing adult sport and physical activity opportunities in Buckinghamshire.
  • Increase the number of adults taking part in regular (3 x 30 minutes) sport and physical activity each wee

If you are an organisation involved with sport, then please register your activities today!

Registration is quick, simple and free and once registered you are then in control of adding information about your activity session(s) onto the website.

The website offers:

  • A central place for people to find sports and activity sessions – helping you to get more members!
  • Space to chat with participants and other activity organisers to share ideas and information.

The Reactivate Bucks website will be promoted via local radio and papers, with posters distributed and displayed across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

If you are a sports club, please make sure your club is listed in the sports club directory.

Visit Reactivate Bucks and register.
