Licensing a venue

Do you have a house or building which you feel may be suitable for civil weddings or civil partnerships?  If so you may like to consider applying for a licence to allow these ceremonies to take place at your venue. Licensing a venue can often provide excellent business opportunities. The process is straightforward, and we can advise and help you through, whether it be a new application or a renewal of an existing licence. A licence lasts for three years and you can include any number of rooms which are suitable for ceremonies. Please note, that if you want to include an additional room at a later date and before the existing licence has expired, you will have to make a full application again and pay the full approved fee again.

Please be aware that rooms must be available for public access during the time of the ceremony and they should not have any religious connection. The rooms to be licensed must be a permanent structure with a roof. Outdoor structures are permitted dependent on location and suitability.

The fee we charge covers the full costs of the advertising process, you will be invited to place details and photos of your venue on our website with a hyperlink to your site and a line entry into our ceremony brochure.

Licensing a venue is easy, if you think you would like to do this, please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to make an initial visit.

You can apply to register your venue online. Please make sure you post original copies of the required documents to us.

You can apply by post or by calling 01296 383521.
