Civil funerals

Candles

We do not provide civil funeral services but you may find the following information useful. Details of neighbouring authorities and organisations who do provide the service are listed below.

A funeral is a very personal occasion and a civil funeral provides an opportunity to create a meaningful ceremony which can celebrate the life of the deceased and provide an opportunity for reflection, thought and respect.

Each ceremony can be a unique celebration of life, designed and conducted to reflect your express wishes and those of your loved one.  You may like to include readings, such as poetry and prose, prayers or hymns, music or words to remember and celebrate.

The ceremony is usually conducted by a Funeral Celebrant.

The ceremony can be held almost anywhere, except in churches or religious buildings.  A civil funeral is appropriate for either a cremation or a burial.
